Chhattisgarhs Commerce and Industry Minister unveils a new industrial policy for 2024-29, aiming to attract investments and boost entrepreneurship. The state plans to host an investor meet and implement initiatives to promote industrial development, focusing on agricultural products, forest produce, and mineral resources.
Chhattisgarh Commerce and Industry Minister Lakhanlal Dewangan announced in the Assembly on Wednesday that the state will formulate a new industrial policy for 2024-29 and organize an investor meet to attract more ventures and projects.

Chhattisgarh Udyam Kranti Yojana to Promote Self-Employment
The minister also revealed plans to launch the Chhattisgarh Udyam Kranti Yojana, an initiative aimed at providing self-employment opportunities to the state's youth.
New Industrial Policy to Focus on Local Resources and Employment Generation
Dewangan stated that the new industrial policy will encourage the establishment of new ventures that leverage Chhattisgarh's agricultural products, forest produce, and mineral resources. Additionally, the policy will prioritize the development of employment-oriented industries.
Budgetary Allocations for Industrial Development
The minister announced a budget allocation of Rs 60 crore for the establishment of new industrial areas and Rs 50 crore for setting up separate industrial parks to promote agriculture and food processing units.
Development of Industrial Areas along Korba-Bilaspur Industrial Corridor
Dewangan also shared plans to develop industrial areas on government land parcels near the national highway for the Korba-Bilaspur Industrial Corridor. These areas will be equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, with an initial provision of Rs 5 crore allocated for the preparation of the action plan.
Support for Start-ups, Innovation, and Research
To foster start-up culture, innovation, and research among the youth, the Central Instrumentation Facility at Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University, Raipur, will be upgraded with a budget allocation of Rs 2 crore.
Invest Chhattisgarh and Chhattisgarh Start-up Summit to Attract Investments
Dewangan announced the organization of Invest Chhattisgarh, modeled after Invest India, to attract investments in the state. Additionally, the Chhattisgarh Start-up Summit will be held to position Chhattisgarh as a start-up hub, attract knowledge process outsourcing units, and create a robust innovation ecosystem.
Mor Chinhari Bhawan to Support Migrant Workers
The minister shared plans to establish Mor Chinhari Bhawan facilities in other states to provide support and guidance to workers from Chhattisgarh who migrate for employment. These facilities will initially be set up in Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, where a significant number of laborers from Chhattisgarh seek job opportunities.
Free Education for Children of Registered Labourers
Dewangan concluded by announcing the launch of a new scheme that will provide free education in reputed private schools to children of registered laborers' families.
