IT giant Cognizant inaugurated a new campus in Hyderabad on Wednesday, which is expected to generate around 15,000 new jobs. The facility, spanning nearly one million square feet, was opened by Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He pledged full support for the company's expansion and growth.

A company representative mentioned that Cognizant employs 3,46,000 people globally, with 70% or 2,40,000 based in India. Of these, approximately 57,000 are currently in Hyderabad. Revanth Reddy highlighted that this new centre would soon make Hyderabad the largest hub for Cognizant in India.
Hyderabad's Growing Presence
Reddy expressed his hope that Cognizant would eventually employ one lakh people in Hyderabad. He also shared his vision of developing a fourth city on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Cyberabad. This future city is intended to cater to global requirements and attract more investments.
The Chief Minister returned to Hyderabad after visiting the US and South Korea. During his trip, he met with the Cognizant team in the US and assured them of complete support for their growth plans. He thanked the company for its significant contributions to CSR activities benefiting various causes.
Telangana's Economic Vision
Revanth Reddy outlined his ambition to transform Telangana into a one trillion dollar economy within the next decade. He emphasised that Telangana aims to compete globally rather than with neighbouring states for industrial investments.
He recalled the historical development of Hyderabad and acknowledged the contributions of former Chief Ministers N Chandrababu Naidu and Y S Rajasekhara Reddy from undivided Andhra Pradesh. Despite differing political views, there were no conflicts regarding the city's development.
Investment Opportunities
Addressing concerns about potential investment shifts from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh due to government changes in the neighbouring state, Reddy clarified his stance. "My competition is not with Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu. My competition is with the world. I have Hyderabad city with me," he stated.
He invited investors to consider Telangana, highlighting Hyderabad's unique advantages such as its Outer Ring Road (ORR), international airport, favourable climate, law and order situation, and connectivity to other regions.
The Chief Minister reiterated that Hyderabad is home to companies like Cognizant, which provide substantial job opportunities. He stressed that his government is designing the fourth city as a future city to meet global demands.
This new facility marks a significant milestone for Cognizant in India and underscores Hyderabad's growing importance as a major IT hub. The city's strategic advantages continue to attract large-scale investments and foster economic growth.
