Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla highlighted the significant impact of cooperative institutions in India during an event on Sunday. Speaking at the annual convention of Hitkari Cooperative Shikshan Samiti in Kota, Rajasthan, he emphasised the transformative role of the cooperative movement in the country's socio-economic landscape.

Birla, who represents Kota-Bundi in Parliament, stated that the cooperative movement has brought about a substantial change in the socio-economic fabric of India. He noted that this movement is unique as it not only creates job opportunities but also significantly improves social and economic conditions.
Role of Cooperative Movement
According to Birla, the cooperative movement is a public initiative where individuals work together to drive socio-economic change. He said, "It is a public movement par excellence, wherein all individuals work in unison, and through which we can herald a new era of socio-economic change."
Birla also pointed out various sectors that have benefited from the cooperative movement. He mentioned farmers, pisciculture, animal husbandry, dairy, small-scale savings, and self-help groups as examples of how cooperatives have demonstrated their potential for socio-economic transformation.

The event saw the presence of several notable figures including State Energy Minister Heeralal Nagar and MLA Sandeep Sharma. Suraj Birla, President of Hitkari Shikshan Samiti, along with Hari Krishan Birla and Rajesh Birla, were also in attendance. A large number of samiti members and associates participated in the event.
