Amidst the ongoing festive season, banks will remain closed for more than two days next week in different Indian states. This includes normal holidays like Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays.In the month of November banks across several states in India will remain closed on account of the five-day Diwali celebration, starting with Dhanteras on November 10 and ending with Bhai Dooj on November 15. Buying precious metals such as gold and silver is considered an auspicious thing on Dhanteras, the first day of the festival.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announces the bank holidays for the full year state-wise. In India all bank holidays have been classified into different categories under the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881-Holidays Under Negotiable Instruments Act, Banks' Closing of Accounts, and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday.

This month banks will remain closed on Govardhan Pooja/Laxmi Puja (Deepawali)/Diwali, Diwali (Bali Pratipada)/Deepavali/Vikram Savant New Year Day/Laxmi Puja, Bhaidooj/Chitragupt Jayanti/Laxmi Puja (Deepawali)/Ningol Chakkouba/Bhratridwitiya, Chhath, Seng Kutsnem/Egaas-Bagwaal, Guru Nanak Jayanti/Karthika Purnima/Rahas Purnima and Kanakadasa Jayanthi.
In total, the month of November has 15 bank holidays in observance of numerous festivals and national events.
It must be noted that bank holidays do not impact digital services such as UPI, Mobile Banking, and Internet Banking and thus customers can use these services and continue their financial transactions even on those days when banks remain closed.
For Diwali and Dhanteras, banks across different states in India will remain closed for six days (this includes Sunday and the second Saturday).
Diwali 2023 bank holidays
November 10 - Wangala Festival: Banks will remain closed in Meghalaya.
November 11 - Banks will remain closed on second Saturday
November 12 - Banks closed on account of Sunday
November 13 - Govardhan Pooja/Laxmi Puja (Deepawali)/Diwali: Banks are closed in Tripura, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Manipur, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.
November 14- Diwali (Bali Pratipada)/Deepavali/Vikram Samvant New Year Day/Laxmi Puja- Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Sikkim.
November 15 - (Bhaidooj/Chitragupt Jayanti/Laxmi Puja (Deepawali)/Ningol Chakkouba/Bhratridwitiya)- Banks are closed in Sikkim, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, Himachal Pradesh.
Long weekend In these cities (October 11,12, 13)
Banks are closed on October 11, and 12 as it is a second Saturday and Sunday. On November October 13, Monday banks will remain closed in Agartala, Dehradun, Gangtok, Imphal, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Raipur. These cities will witness a three-day holiday.
Banks in states such as Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Sikkim will not work on November 14 on account of Bali Pratipada)/Deepavali/Vikram Samvant New Year Day/Laxmi Puja.
In this state, bank will remain closed for 5 days
In Sikkim, banks will remain closed for four consecutive days. Second Saturday, Sunday followed by Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

November 20 (Monday)- Chhath (Morning Arghya)- Banks to remain closed in Bihar and Rajasthan.
November 23 (Tuesday)- Seng Kutsnem/Egaas-Bagwaal- Banks to remain closed in Uttarakhand and Sikkim.
November 30 (Thursday)- Kanakadasa Jayanthi- Banks to remain closed in Karnataka.
