DMRC Collaborates with Airtel Payments Bank to Boost Digital Payments

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced a partnership with Airtel Payments Bank to offer digital payment solutions for commuters. This collaboration will enable the bank to process transactions using the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), issued by any bank, across all metro lines, including the Airport Express line.

DMRC, Airtel Bank Digital Payment Tie-Up

DMRC stated that Airtel Payments Bank now holds the rights to maintain and process digital payments via the NCMC. This initiative is part of DMRC's ongoing efforts to introduce more digital ticketing solutions for passenger convenience. The bank will issue NCMC-enabled cards at metro stations, facilitating seamless travel on the Delhi Metro and other open-loop transport systems nationwide.

Seamless Travel and Retail Transactions

These NCMC-enabled cards will not only allow for smooth travel on various transport systems but also support retail purchases, ATM withdrawals, and e-commerce transactions. "This partnership will enable us to offer seamless and hassle-free movement for our daily commuters in the National Capital Region," said DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar.

At an event held at DMRC's headquarters, Airtel Payments Bank launched both debit and pre-paid NCMC-enabled cards. This move aligns with India's vision of "One Nation One Card," aiming to provide diverse services to a broad user base. Anubrata Biswas, MD and CEO of Airtel Payments Bank, remarked, "This takes us one step ahead to serve our customers better with our diverse offerings."

Enhanced Digital Payment Solutions

The collaboration between DMRC and Airtel Payments Bank is expected to enhance digital payment solutions for commuters. The NCMC can be used across various travel segments, including metro, bus, railways, and parking lots. This initiative aims to provide a unified payment solution for different modes of transportation.

The partnership reflects a significant step towards integrating digital payment systems within public transport networks. By offering these advanced solutions, DMRC hopes to improve the overall commuting experience for passengers in the National Capital Region.

This development marks a crucial milestone in DMRC's journey towards digitisation. The introduction of NCMC-enabled cards is expected to simplify the payment process for commuters, making it more efficient and user-friendly.

The collaboration is set to benefit a wide range of users by making digital payment services more accessible. It underscores the commitment of both DMRC and Airtel Payments Bank to enhance commuter convenience through innovative solutions.

This partnership is part of a broader effort to modernise public transportation in India. By leveraging digital technologies, DMRC aims to provide a more streamlined and efficient service for its passengers.

The initiative also highlights the importance of public-private partnerships in driving technological advancements in public services. Through this collaboration, DMRC and Airtel Payments Bank are setting a precedent for future initiatives aimed at improving urban mobility.

Overall, this partnership is expected to significantly enhance the commuting experience for Delhi Metro passengers by providing them with more convenient and efficient payment options.
