His contributions to India's space program were significant, helping to propel it forward during his tenure. Dr. Kasturirangan's influence extended beyond space exploration; he was instrumental in shaping educational reforms through the NEP.

Dr. Kasturirangan's impact on education was profound, having served as the chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University and chairman of the Karnataka Knowledge Commission. His work on the NEP brought about substantial changes in India's educational framework.
In addition to his educational roles, he was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2003 to 2009 and contributed to the Planning Commission of India. His leadership was evident across various prestigious institutions and committees.

From April 2004 to 2009, Dr. Kasturirangan served as Director of the National Institute of Advanced Studies in Bangalore. His career was marked by a commitment to advancing both scientific research and educational reform.
"He left for heavenly abode this morning at his residence in Bengaluru," officials reported, adding that his body would be available for public respects at Raman Research Institute on April 27.
