Six major pharmaceutical firms, including Dr Reddys Laboratories and Aurobindo Pharma, have agreed to establish new facilities in Telangana's Pharma City. The state government announced these agreements on Friday. The companies plan to invest over Rs 5,260 crore, creating 12,490 jobs in the pharmaceutical sector.

Representatives from these companies met with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu at the Secretariat to finalise the agreements. The government will allocate land for these new manufacturing units in the designated Pharma City area.
Investment Plans and Job Creation
The MoUs outline specific plans for each company. MSN Laboratories will set up a manufacturing unit and an R&D centre. Laurus Labs and Aurobindo Pharma will establish separate formulation units. Gland Pharma plans to open an R&D centre along with injectables and drug substance manufacturing units.
Dr Reddys Labs is set to build an injectable and biosimilars unit, while Hetero Labs will create a finished dose and injectable manufacturing plant. These developments are expected to significantly boost employment in the region.
Government Support and Infrastructure
The Chief Minister has directed officials to ensure land allocation for these projects. Additionally, necessary infrastructure must be provided in Pharma City. Construction work is scheduled to commence within four months.
The collaboration between the Telangana government and these pharmaceutical giants marks a significant step towards enhancing the state's industrial landscape. This initiative aims to strengthen Telangana's position as a hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing.
