Ethereum Surge To Hit Record High Of $4,482 For The First Time

Ethereum is a decentralized, open-source blockchain that allows users to create smart contracts. The platform's native cryptocurrency is Ether. Ether is the second most valuable cryptocurrency after Bitcoin in terms of market capitalization. Vitalik Buterin, a programmer, created Ethereum in 2013.

With a 24-hour trading volume of $21,034,585,801 USD, the current Ethereum price is $4,565.66 USD. In the previous 24 hours, Ethereum has gained 4.54 percent. With a live market cap of $539,605,366,515 USD, CoinMarketCap currently ranks #2.

Thai cryptocurrency exchange Bitkub has been bought by Siam Commercial Bank (SCB), which now owns a 51 percent share.

According to a statement made Tuesday, Thailand's oldest bank, SCB, paid 17.85 billion baht ($536.6 million) for the exchange's majority ownership.
Subject to regulatory approval, the acquisition is scheduled to close in the first quarter of 2022.

In conjunction with Gemini and intelligence firm Chainalysis, the bank will offer a crypto exchange and custody service.
