The NHAI has launched a Rs 3,000 FASTag annual pass for private vehicles, promoting ease of travel on national highways. The pass allows unlimited crossings for one year and has seen significant uptake since its launch.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched the FASTag annual pass nationwide, aiming to boost technology use for citizens' convenience. An official statement highlighted the positive reception from highway users. By 4:30 PM on the first day, approximately 1.2 lakh users had purchased and activated the pass, with around 1.24 lakh transactions recorded at toll plazas.

The FASTag Annual Pass offers a cost-effective travel solution for national highway users, eliminating frequent recharges. For a one-time fee of Rs 3,000, users gain a year's validity or 200 toll plaza crossings on National Highways and Expressways. This pass is available for all non-commercial vehicles with a valid FASTag and activates within two hours of payment via the Rajmargyatra App or NHAI website.
FASTag's Impact on Electronic Toll Collection
FASTag has significantly transformed the Electronic Toll Collection system in India, boasting a penetration rate of about 98 per cent and over 8 crore users. The introduction of the annual pass aims to further improve user experience by making travel on National Highways and Expressways more economical and seamless.
The annual pass initiative is part of NHAI's efforts to provide a seamless travel experience. It reduces the hassle of frequent recharges, offering convenience to highway users. The pass is designed to enhance the overall FASTag experience while promoting efficient travel across the country's highways.
With its widespread adoption, FASTag continues to play a crucial role in modernising toll collection in India. The annual pass is expected to further streamline travel for millions of users, making journeys smoother and more cost-effective.
