The NHAI has launched a Rs 3,000 FASTag annual pass for private vehicles, allowing seamless travel across national highways. This initiative aims to simplify toll payments and has already seen significant uptake from users.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched the FASTag annual pass nationwide to boost technology use for citizens' convenience. An official statement highlighted the significant response from highway users. By 4:30 PM on the first day, approximately 1.2 lakh users had purchased and activated the pass, with about 1.24 lakh transactions recorded at toll plazas.

The FASTag Annual Pass offers a seamless travel option by eliminating frequent recharges. Users pay a one-time fee of Rs 3,000 for a year's validity or 200 toll plaza crossings on National Highways and Expressways. This pass is available for all non-commercial vehicles with a valid FASTag and activates within two hours through the Rajmargyatra App or NHAI website.
FASTag's Impact on Toll Collection
FASTag has significantly transformed the Electronic Toll Collection system in India, achieving a penetration rate of around 98 per cent with over 8 crore users. The introduction of the annual pass aims to further enhance user experience and make highway journeys more economical and seamless.
The new facility is expected to improve the overall experience for FASTag users by providing a cost-effective and hassle-free travel solution. The annual pass is designed to cater to the growing demand for efficient toll collection systems, ensuring smoother travel across national highways.
With this initiative, NHAI continues to promote digital solutions that simplify travel for citizens. The annual pass not only reduces the need for frequent recharges but also supports the broader goal of enhancing ease of living through technology-driven services.
This move aligns with NHAI's ongoing efforts to modernise infrastructure and improve service delivery on national highways. By offering an economical travel option, the FASTag annual pass contributes to a more efficient transportation network across the country.
