Flender India, a subsidiary of the German-based Flender Group, is committed to enhancing its presence in the Indian market. The company has significantly increased its investments in India over the last four years, highlighting the market's importance. Flender operates three production facilities in Kharagpur, Kolkata, Chennai, and Walajabad in Tamil Nadu to cater to both local and international demand for wind turbine drive gearboxes.

In celebration of Flender Group's 125th anniversary, CEO Andreas Evertz and Flender India CEO Vinod Shetty visited the Tamil Nadu sites. They were joined by senior officials to engage with employees. The company noted that about 10 percent of Flender Group's 9,000 employees are based in India. This visit was part of a broader effort to strengthen ties within the company.
Flender's Historical Growth and Future Plans
Founded in 1899 in Bocholt, Germany, Flender initially focused on wooden pulleys. The company established its first manufacturing unit in India in 1961. Over the past three years, Flender India's business has more than doubled. The company plans further investments to sustain this rapid growth trajectory. Currently, more than half of the products manufactured in India are exported globally.
During the anniversary celebrations in Chennai, Evertz expressed pride in being part of the Flender team. "We have always been and will always be a large Flender family," he said. "Whether employees, customers, suppliers, or partners, we all feel like Flenderans. I am incredibly proud to be part of this team and to advance the energy transition with you."
Employee Contributions and Global Reach
Reflecting on this milestone, Shetty commented on the significance of celebrating with various stakeholders. "It was a proud moment to celebrate our 125th anniversary with our customers, suppliers, partners, and community stakeholders," he stated. He emphasised that employees are crucial to driving the company's growth.
The company's commitment to expanding its operations in India is evident through its substantial investment increase over recent years. This strategy aims to leverage India's strategic position for global exports while meeting local demands effectively.
Flender India's future looks promising as it continues to invest in its facilities and workforce. With a strong foundation and a focus on innovation, the company is well-positioned for continued success in both domestic and international markets.
