The National Highways Authority of India, NHAI, has launched a unique reward scheme to keep India's highways cleaner and more traveller-friendly. Under this new scheme, anyone who is travelling on national highways can earn Rs. 1,000 FASTag recharges by simply reporting a dirty or unhygienic toilet at any toll plaza. The scheme will run till October 31st, 2025, and is expected to improve sanitation and maintenance standards along national highways.

How to Get an Rs. 1,000 FASTag Recharge?
To claim the free FASTag reward, commuters will have to use the "Rajmarg Yatra" app, which is available on both Android and iOS. Here's a simple step-by-step process on how to do it:
Step 1: Open the Rajmarg Yatra app and find the "Report Dirty Toilet" option.
Step 2: Click clear, time-stamped photos of a dirty or poorly maintained toilet at an NHAI toll plaza.
Step 3: Upload the photo with your details, such as name, mobile number, vehicle registration number (VRN), and location.
Step 4: If your report is verified, Rs. 1,000 FASTag credit will be added directly to your linked account.
Terms & Conditions of the Rule
Before one makes any report to the authorities, here are some of the rules and regulations that they should keep in mind as outlined by the NHAI:
- It should be noted that the reward applies only to toilets built or maintained by NHAI, not those at restaurants, fuel pumps, or dhabas.
- If many travellers report the same toilet on the same day, only the first valid report will be rewarded.
- Photos must be original, unedited, and geotagged; users must note that fake or duplicate submissions will be rejected.
- Each vehicle registration number (VRN) can claim the reward only once during the campaign period.
- Each toilet facility can qualify once a day, no matter how many people report it.
- To make the system foolproof, NHAI will verify reports using AI tools and human review before approving rewards.
Clean Highways with NHAI Scheme
Highway toilets have often been a major concern for travellers, especially families, women, and long-distance drivers. NHAI hopes that this scheme will encourage cleaner and safer public toilets along national highways. This will make sure toll plaza operators are held accountable for maintenance. This new NHAI rule will give travellers a direct role in improving hygiene standards. So, the next time you stop at a toll plaza and find the toilet dirty, click a photo, upload it on the Rajmarg Yatra app, and earn an Rs. 1,000 FASTag recharge
