Diwali is traditionally considered one of the best times to invest, as people seek to park their money in assets that offer returns while also following the cultural beliefs. Precious metals like gold and silver are the go-to investment options during Dhanteras and Diwali, as they are a wealth and prosperity. However, with rising gold and silver prices in recent weeks, many investors are concerned about whether buying now will give profitable returns or not.

Comparison of Gold Prices vs Cryptocurrency Prices
As of October 20, 2025, the gold rate in India is trading at Rs. 1,30,690 per 10 grams. The 22-carat gold rate costs Rs. 1,19,800 per 10 grams.
At the same time, the cryptocurrency market today is seeing moderate gains across major digital assets, with Bitcoin and Ethereum currently dominating investor sentiment this festive season.
Bitcoin is trading at $111,284.74, showing a 4.16% daily rise despite minor weekly losses. Ethereum (ETH) follows at $4,061.66, backed by a $492.17 billion market cap, rising 4.42% in the last 24 hours.
Among stablecoins, Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC) remain steady at $1.00. Binance Coin (BNB) is priced at $1,128.35, while XRP trades at $2.47 and Solana (SOL) at $193.51, each seeing mild daily gains amid a broader market correction.
Meanwhile, Dogecoin (DOGE) continues to attract retail investors, trading at $0.2016 with a market cap of $30.61 billion.
Gold vs Crypto: What Demand Suggests
"Bitcoin has emerged as the best-performing asset class of the decade, even outpacing gold and silver, which are making new price highs this year. While older generations continue to trust gold for its stability, young investors increasingly view Bitcoin and stablecoins like USDT as a modern hedge against inflation and currency devaluation, much like gold was perceived decades ago. Indian youth, influenced by global financial trends and online communities, are gravitating toward crypto for its wealth creation potential and tech-friendly nature," said Vikas Gupta, Country Manager, Bybit.
He added, "Unlike gold, crypto offers borderless access, fractional ownership, and global markets 24x7, allowing anyone with a smartphone and Rs. 100 to start investing. This accessibility is driving first-time investors, especially across smaller cities."
