The Union cabinet on Wednesday, December 24, approved Delhi Metro expansion. Additionally, the Cabinet approved the construction of corridor from Aerocity to Airport T1 corridor, reported CNBC TV 18.
The move is likely to reshape daily travel across the National Capital Region by extending the network to underserved areas and offering quicker, cleaner journeys to millions of passengers.

Officials see the proposal as part of a wider push to upgrade urban transport and related infrastructure in major Indian cities. Once the cabinet signs off, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will be able to move ahead faster with new corridors, route extensions, and key interchange upgrades planned under Phase IV.
Delhi Metro phase 4 extension network plan and focus
Delhi Metro Phase-IV is designed to plug gaps in the existing system by linking localities that still have poor access to metro services. The project includes brand-new stretches, extensions of current lines, and improvements at busy interchange stations. The wider goal is to ease rising traffic pressure on city roads and cut dependence on private cars and two-wheelers.
For Phase-I, Encardio Rite handled complete monitoring for both MC1A and MC1B, including supply, installation, and tracking of geotechnical instruments. The scope covered data analysis and regular reporting to project authorities. A large team of experienced engineers and technicians worked on site for three years to carry out this monitoring programme.
Delhi Metro Phase-II expanded the underground network further, with a corridor of about 36 km and 20 underground stations. Encardio Rite again carried out instrument supply, installation, monitoring, and data analysis, and completed building condition surveys before and after construction for structures within the impact zone. Instruments used were similar to those deployed in Phase-I, allowing continuity in measurement methods.
During Phase-III, Encardio Rite continued monitoring activities, adding online tracking through a web-based data management system that provided near real-time information to stakeholders. The work included supply and installation of geotechnical instruments, continuous monitoring, detailed reporting, and building condition surveys before and after tunnelling. Equipment largely matched that used in the first two phases, helping maintain consistent data quality.
