Haryana Labour Minister Anil Vij announced the establishment of help desks at the block level across the state. These are intended to improve access to welfare schemes for workers in building and construction activities. As Chairman of the Haryana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, Vij approved this initiative to support construction workers.

The help desks will serve as one-stop centres for various services. They will assist with worker registration, facilitate access to benefits under different schemes, raise awareness among workers, and address grievances within the construction sector. The labour department aims to ensure speed and transparency in processing applications through these centres.
Welfare Schemes for Construction Workers
Assistant Welfare Officers and necessary support staff will manage these centres, which will be equipped with IT infrastructure. The department plans to enhance on-ground participation through service delivery points and connect points by establishing these help desks at the block level.
Registered construction workers in Haryana can avail themselves of several benefits. These include a maternity benefit of Rs 36,000 and a paternity benefit of Rs 21,000. Educational financial support is available for workers' children, ranging from Rs 8,000 to Rs 20,000 annually from primary to higher education.
Additional Benefits for Workers
Merit-based scholarships between Rs 21,000 and Rs 51,000 are offered to children scoring 60% or above in Class 10th/12th exams. Full academic expenses for children pursuing professional or technical courses are reimbursed according to actual government expenses.
Other benefits include Rs 5,000 for bicycle purchase, an Rs 8,000 tool grant, and Rs 4,500 for a sewing machine. Under the CM Women Construction Worker Samman Scheme, Rs 5,100 is provided. Travel expenses for pilgrimages or visits to historical sites are fully reimbursed for second-class train or regular bus fare.
Workers also receive reimbursement for travel expenses when visiting their ancestral homes. Medical assistance includes wage compensation based on minimum wage and financial aid up to Rs 1 lakh for treating chronic diseases. Additionally, a disability pension of Rs 3,000 per month is available.
The initiative aims to protect construction workers' interests by providing comprehensive support through these help desks. This effort underscores the commitment to improving the welfare of those engaged in building and construction activities across Haryana.
