The Oberoi Group's hospitality arm, EIH Ltd, announced that the Himachal Pradesh government has permitted it to manage the Wildflower Hall in Shimla. This arrangement will continue until a new operator is chosen through a competitive bidding process. The state government took control of the property on March 31, 2025, following a Supreme Court directive from February 20, 2024.

In a letter dated April 1, 2025, the state government informed EIH Ltd of its decision. The company was allowed to provide operation and management services at the hotel starting from 6 pm on April 1, 2025. This move aims to ensure guest satisfaction and maintain seamless hotel operations, which benefits both the state's finances and overall interests.
Legal Resolution and Share Transfer
The long-standing legal dispute between EIH and the state over Wildflower Hall concluded with the Supreme Court's decision. The court upheld the Himachal Pradesh High Court's order, requiring EIH to vacate and hand over the property by March 2025. The deadline for this transfer was March 31, 2025.
EIH Ltd also mentioned that its shares in Mashobra Resort Ltd (MRL) will be transferred to the state government. This transfer will occur after the Himachal Pradesh High Court adjudicates the valuation of these shares.
Continuity of Operations
Until a new operator is selected through an e-auction or bidding process, EIH Ltd will continue managing Wildflower Hall. This ensures uninterrupted service for guests and stability in hotel operations during this transitional phase.
The decision to allow EIH Ltd to manage the property temporarily reflects a focus on maintaining high service standards. It also highlights the importance of financial stability for both the hotel and the state during this period.
The arrangement underscores a commitment to ensuring that guests experience no disruption in service quality. It also aligns with broader financial interests by keeping operations smooth until a permanent operator is appointed.
