The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) in Madhya Pradesh has stated that singer Yo Yo Honey Singh's upcoming event should only proceed after the entertainment tax is paid. Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava has formally communicated this requirement to the District Magistrate and Police Commissioner. The musical event is planned for Saturday.

Entertainment Tax Requirement
In his letter, Bhargava highlighted that the Mayor Council, under his leadership, has implemented a tax on commercial dance and music events as per the Madhya Pradesh Municipality Tax Rules 2018. Approval for the event should be granted only after the organisers deposit the required taxes into the civic body's account.
Mayor-in-Council member and revenue department head, Niranjan Singh Chauhan Guddu, emphasised that a 10% entertainment tax must be collected from the organisers based on total ticket sales before granting approval for Honey Singh's live performance. Chauhan warned that failure to comply would lead to a censure motion in the Mayor Council and a complaint with the Lokayukta police.
Revenue Concerns
Chauhan expressed concern over revenue losses due to unpaid entertainment taxes on commercial events. He pointed out that a recent concert by singer Diljit Dosanjh in the city still has outstanding taxes. This situation indicates negligence by officials, resulting in financial losses for the civic body.
The IMC is determined to ensure compliance with tax regulations to prevent further revenue loss. The enforcement of these rules aims to secure necessary funds for municipal operations and services.
