IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers revealed on Monday that the airline expects to carry 100 million passengers in fiscal year 2024, which ends in March 2024, as it increases domestic and international routes. The low-cost carrier carried 86 million passengers in fiscal year 23.
According to a pti report, Elbers remarked at a media event on the sidelines of the IATA World Air Transport Summit here that the airline plans to have approximately 350 planes in its fleet by the conclusion of this fiscal year (FY24).

Currently, the ship contains about 300 planes. IndiGo is India's largest airline, with a share of the domestic market of more than 57%.
He indicated that the airline will keep working to increase its foreign market share.
This week, IndiGo announced that it will launch direct flights to six new African and Central Asian destinations, including Nairobi, Tbilisi, and Tashkent, this year.
In late July or early August, the carrier would launch "massive" international growth plans, connecting Nairobi, Kenya, and Jakarta, Indonesia, with direct flights from Mumbai.
"Delhi will be connected to Tbilisi, Georgia, and Baku, Azerbaijan in August, and Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and Almaty, Kazakhstan in September," IndiGo said in a release on Friday. In response to a query about bilateral flying rights, Elbers indicated that it is up to the government to decide whether or not to grant more rights. It demands a "tailor-made approach," he continues.
Concerning concerns with Pratt & Whitney engines, Elbers stated that the airline, like others, is experiencing supply chain challenges and has implemented a variety of mitigation measures.
When asked if IndiGo would join an airline alliance, the CEO responded, "If home is the largest country in terms of population, why should we limit ourselves to one alliance?" PTI RAM (The correspondent is in Istanbul at IATA's request) SHW
