IndiGo has rolled out a fresh compensation plan for thousands of passengers affected by the massive flight disruptions that occurred between December 3 and 5, one of the worst operational breakdowns in the airline's recent history.
The airline confirmed that travellers who were stranded for several hours during the three-day disruption will receive travel vouchers worth Rs. 10,000, which can be redeemed for any IndiGo flight over the next 12 months.
The airline is currently facing a lot of public pressure and regulatory scrutiny as the DGCA probes the reasons behind the unexpected cancellation of more than 4,200 flights in the last 1 day.
Refunds Already Initiated; Additional Support for Travel Agency Bookings
In an official statement issued today, IndiGo said that its "foremost priority continues to be the care of our customers, and that refunds for cancelled flights have already been initiated, with most passengers having received their money back. Travellers who booked through travel partners should write to customer.experience@goindigo.in so their cases can be processed individually."

Rs. 5,000-Rs. 10,000 Additional Govt-Mandated Compensation
According to the airline, the Rs. 10,000 vouchers will be issued in addition to Government of India-mandated compensation, which ranges from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000, depending on the flight duration and the timing of the cancellation.
Passengers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of departure will be eligible for this additional payout, as per DGCA guidelines.
IndiGo Promises to Restore Smooth Operations
IndiGo acknowledged that a large number of passengers were stranded for long hours at airports across the country during the disruption period.
In its statement, the airline said, "We remain committed to restoring the experience you expect from us: safe, smooth, and reliable. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you again."
The airline is now trying to rebuild trust after a turbulent week for the airline and its passengers. They said that all Indigo operations will be compliant with aviation safety and FDTL Flight Duty Time Limit norms.
Vouchers Valid for 12 Months
The Rs. 10,000 vouchers provided to severely impacted customers can be used toward any IndiGo booking made in the next 12 months as compensation for the inconvenience caused.
