In the wake of a major service disruption that left thousands of passengers stranded in early December, IndiGo has launched a compensation programme called the "Gesture of Care" (GoC). The airline is offering travel vouchers worth Rs.10,000 to each passenger whose flight was delayed or cancelled between December 3 and 5, 2025.

Travel Vouchers
IndiGo is giving two vouchers of Rs.5,000 each to every eligible passenger. These vouchers can be used to book flight tickets or to pay for extra services like meals, seat selection, or additional baggage.
They are not cash refunds, but they work like store credit that can be used only with IndiGo.
Who Can Get These Vouchers?
The vouchers are being given to passengers who were affected by flight delays or cancellations during a specific 60-hour window - from noon on December 3 to the end of December 5, 2025.
To qualify, the disruption must have happened within four hours of the scheduled departure time, and the delay must have lasted more than three hours. This means only last-minute delays or cancellations that caused long waiting times are covered.
Children and infants are also included. Their vouchers will be issued in their names, but parents or guardians will receive them on their behalf.
How Much Is Offered?
Each eligible passenger will receive Rs.10,000 in total, split into two vouchers of Rs.5,000 each. These are issued per person, not per booking. So, if a family of four was affected, they will receive four sets of vouchers - a total value of Rs.40,000.
How to Claim Vouchers?
IndiGo is sending the vouchers by email. Each eligible customer will get a secure link to access their vouchers. If a passenger's email address was not registered with the airline, they can still receive the vouchers - but after updating their contact details. IndiGo has said that in such cases, the vouchers will be sent within 24 hours of registration.
How Can the Vouchers Be Used?
Validity: The vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date they are issued.
Booking: They can be used to book any IndiGo flight, regardless of fare type or travel date. Even if the travel happens after the 12-month period, the booking must be made before the expiry date.
Services: The vouchers can also be used to pay for extras like meals, seat selection, and baggage - but only if the booking is made through IndiGo's official website.
Limitations: Each voucher can be used only once. They are non-transferable. They are linked to the name of the original passenger and cannot be combined or split.
No Blackout Dates or Fare Restrictions
Unlike many promotional offers, these vouchers come with no hidden conditions. There are no blackout dates (days when the vouchers can't be used), and passengers can use them for any fare class - from basic to premium. There are also no restrictions on the type of booking.
Why This Matters
The GoC initiative is IndiGo's way of making amends after a large-scale operational failure earlier in December. The airline faced widespread delays and cancellations across its network, leaving many passengers stuck at the airports across the country. IndiGo's leadership has said that the situation is now under control.
This compensation plan goes beyond the minimum requirements set by aviation authorities and is seen as a goodwill gesture to restore customer trust.
Passengers who believe they are eligible but have not yet received any communication are advised to check their email inboxes and ensure their contact details are up to date with IndiGo.
