In an e-mail reply to IANS, Bengaluru-based software major Infosys said, "As a high-performance organisation, involuntary attrition is integral to the normal course of business and this (sacking) should not be interpreted as any mass trimming across any level in particular". As per the company source, the company has sacked non-performers from the company at several levels which is a part of its involuntary attrition scheme.

Further even as the company did not disclose the exact number of employees who faced termination in the recent past, the company official clarified that "the media report on involuntary attrition is a mere speculation and sensationalisation with wrong data points, which the company never shared".
Also, the source is quoted as saying in an agency report that the company is not laying off thousands of its staff at several levels.
Further, the source as cited in the report clarified that such attrition which in technical jargon is referred as involuntary attrition is on account of non-performance for over 2 quarters or 2 years or whatever and is in no way lay-off.
"We don't hand over pink slips to our employees. We can't share the data as they are internal processes. We don't tell our people you are redundant and hence can leave tomorrow," affirmed the source.
Besides, the source with know-how on the development says that the company gives its non-performing employees ample time to best showcase their deliverables before being asked to leave the company.
On an annualized basis, the consolidated attrition rate has weakened marginally qoq to 21.7% from 23.4% in the quarter ended June and 22.2% a year ago.
During the Q2 period, the company added 7457 employees and as it is it's headcount totals to 236,486 in comparison to 229,029 a quarter ago and 217,739 a year ago.
