Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy has cautioned the public against fake news articles and deepfake videos that falsely claim his endorsement of automated trading applications.
New Delhi, December 14: Infosys co-founder N.R. Narayana Murthy has issued a strong warning to the public regarding fake news items and deepfake videos that falsely claim his endorsement of automated trading applications. Murthy took to social media platform X to draw attention to these malicious attempts to exploit his name and reputation.

Murthy Denies Endorsements and Associations
Murthy categorically denied any involvement or association with these fraudulent applications or websites. He emphasized that he has not endorsed or invested in any automated trading applications, including BTC AI Evex, British Bitcoin Profit, Bit Lyte Sync, Immediate Momentum, Capitalix Ventures, or any similar platforms.
Public Caution Advised
Murthy urged the public to remain vigilant and not fall prey to the content of these malicious sites or the products and services sold using his name. He advised individuals to report any such instances to the concerned regulatory authorities.
Deepfake Concerns
Murthy's warning comes amidst growing concerns over the misuse of deepfake technology to create doctored videos and fake narratives. Deepfakes pose a significant threat to public trust and can be used for various malicious purposes, including financial fraud and political manipulation.
Government Scrutiny
The Indian government has taken notice of the deepfake issue and has held meetings with social media platforms to address the spread of misinformation and deepfakes. Platforms have been reminded that certain user harms and illegalities flagged under the IT Rules are also mapped to provisions in the Indian Penal Code (IPC), leading to potential criminal consequences.
IT Rules Amendment
The government is actively considering amendments to the IT Rules to further ensure compliance of platforms and enhance the safety and trust of online users. These amendments aim to address the evolving challenges posed by deepfakes and other forms of online deception.
N.R. Narayana Murthy's warning highlights the urgent need for public awareness and regulatory action to combat fake news and deepfake videos. By staying informed and reporting suspicious content, individuals can play a crucial role in safeguarding their personal information and protecting the integrity of online communication.
