Infosys has begun the process of onboarding engineering graduates from the 2022 batch, with many receiving notifications about their joining dates and other offer terms, according to sources. The IT union Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) claimed that over 1,000 campus hires have received letters, though Infosys has not officially confirmed this. An email sent to Infosys did not receive a response.

Onboarding Timeline and CEO's Assurance
Sources indicated that Infosys has contacted campus hires from the 2022 batch, with onboarding expected to start by the end of September or in October. Infosys CEO Salil Parekh recently assured that all offers made to freshers would be honoured, despite some changes in joining dates. In a recent interview, Parekh stated: "Every offer that we have given, that offer will be for someone who will join the company. We changed some dates but beyond that everyone will join Infosys and there is no change in that approach."
NITES' Statement and Actions
On Monday, NITES announced that Infosys had issued appointment letters to over 1,000 campus hires. These engineers, who had been waiting for nearly two years, now have a confirmed joining date of October 7, 2024. NITES President Harpreet Singh Saluja remarked: "This is a huge win for NITES and all the students who stood strong in the face of uncertainty and delay." He added: "However, we remain vigilant... if Infosys fails to honour this commitment and breaches the joining date, we will not hesitate to organise a protest right in front of the Infosys office."
Previous Complaints and Delays
NITES had previously filed a complaint with the Ministry of Labour and Employment against Infosys for delaying the onboarding of 2,000 engineering graduates selected during the 2022-23 recruitment drive for system engineer and digital specialist engineer roles. The union's actions highlight ongoing concerns about delays in onboarding processes within the IT sector.
The recent developments reflect efforts by both Infosys and NITES to address the delays faced by new graduates. The situation underscores the importance of timely communication and fulfilment of commitments in maintaining trust between employers and new hires.
