Today, Friday, September 5, 2025, is not a nationwide bank holiday, but banks in several states and cities are closed for Eid-e-Milad (Milad-un-Nabi) and the Thiruvonam or Onam festival 2025. As per the RBI bank holiday calendar for September 2025, many regions are observing a public holiday, while others remain open.

In India, the bank holiday today is being observed in Ranchi, Srinagar and parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu for the Eid-e-Milad and Onam/Thiruvonam festivals. Meanwhile, in Shillong and Shimla, banks remain open because the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) cancelled the earlier declared holiday.
