Amid rising tensions along the Indo-Pak border, panic buying has surged in Jammu. The Jammu Traders Federation has urged residents to remain calm, assuring them of sufficient essential supplies. The federation has reactivated war rooms to distribute free rations and medicines to those affected by the ongoing hostilities. This reassurance follows the evacuation of hundreds from villages near the Line of Control and International Border due to intense shelling by the Pakistan Army.

Essential Supplies and Support
Deepak Gupta, President of the Jammu Traders Federation, addressed concerns about shortages. "People are panic buying due to fear of war, but there is absolutely no need to worry. We have enough ration to last three months," he stated. Gupta emphasised that traders are united with the nation during this crisis. To ease public burden, prices for essentials like oil, flour, and rice have been reduced.
The federation has established two war rooms dedicated to distributing rations and medicines in border areas. These facilities aim to provide free supplies to those in need, a model successfully used during the Covid-19 pandemic. Ration stocks have already been dispatched across various districts in Jammu. Gupta reassured that they are fully prepared to manage the situation effectively.
Military Operations and Economic Measures
Gupta praised Operation Sindoo's success, launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam massacre that claimed 26 lives. "We congratulate the armed forces and the Government of India for destroying Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed's terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir," he said. Nine terror hideouts were destroyed under this operation, and Gupta called for its continuation until all training camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir are eliminated.
Pakistan's frustration over Operation Sindoo's success has led to shelling civilian areas in Poonch and Rajouri. However, Gupta assured that the Indian army is ready with an appropriate response. Highlighting economic aspects, he noted that the Prime Minister accepted their demand to suspend all trade with Pakistan, stating it is time for decisive action.
The situation along the border remains tense as security forces stay on high alert. Emergency measures continue in vulnerable areas to ensure safety and preparedness against any further escalation.
