Tax Deduction on Kerala Lottery Winnings
Winners of the Karunya Plus lottery should be aware of the tax deductions applied to the prize amount.
A flat 30% TDS is deducted for lottery winnings above Rs. 10,000.
In addition, an agent commission of 12% may also apply.
For instance, if someone wins the Rs. 1 crore jackpot, the final payout after tax deductions could be around Rs. 68 lakh, depending on applicable cess and agent charges.
How to Claim Kerala Lottery Prize Money
Claiming your Kerala lottery prize is straightforward if you follow the official process.
Step 1: Sign the back of your lottery ticket and clearly write your name and address.
Step 2: If your winnings are above Rs. 5,000, visit the nearest District Lottery Office, Government Lottery Office, or an authorised bank within 30 days of the result announcement.
Carry the following documents:
- Original signed lottery ticket
- Filled claim form
- Two passport-size photographs
- Self-attested copy of ID proof (Aadhaar card, Voter ID, etc.)
- Copy of PAN card
Step 3: Submit the claim based on the prize amount
