Kerala is experiencing rapid industrial growth, with domestic entrepreneurs investing Rs 44,000 crores over the past three and a half years, according to State Industries Minister P Rajeeve. Speaking at a conclave organised by the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), he highlighted the state's promising future. This event precedes the Invest Kerala Global Summit in Kochi on February 21 and 22, 2025.

The minister noted that since 2021, Kerala has seen the establishment of 696 new enterprises, each investing over Rs 1 crore. Among these, 203 companies have invested more than Rs 100 crore, contributing to a total investment of Rs 15,925.89 crore. During the entrepreneurial year of 2022-23, 3,43,083 enterprises were launched, attracting investments worth Rs 21,299 crore and creating jobs for seven lakh people. Notably, women entrepreneurs make up 31% of these ventures.
Investment Opportunities and Growth
Minister Rajeeve emphasised that foreign companies are increasingly interested in investing in Kerala. He stated that discussions would be initiated on new sectors with significant investment potential. "Taking full advantage of this favourable situation, we'll initiate discussions on new sectors offering massive investment potential," he said in a KSIDC release.
The transparency in starting industrial enterprises has led to a qualitative shift in Kerala's industrial landscape. The State Industrial Policy 2023 has identified 22 priority sectors for substantial investment. The upcoming Invest Kerala Global Summit will take place in this conducive business environment.
Supportive Measures for Entrepreneurs
Principal Secretary Industries APM Mohammed Hanish highlighted the state's attractive subsidies and incentives for new entrepreneurs. He encouraged them to leverage Kerala's industry-friendly environment and explore opportunities across various sectors. KSIDC Chairman Balagopal C stressed the importance of supporting both startups and established enterprises.
Programmes such as investor meetings, sectoral conclaves, and roadshows are underway to identify potential areas for investment early on. The minister urged collective efforts to maintain Kerala's top position in the central ranking on Ease of Doing Business. Entrepreneurs should act as ambassadors for Kerala’s industrial sector.
The state has made significant strides in diversifying its industrial activities and attracting substantial investments during this period. As a result, many foreign companies are exploring new opportunities in Kerala with increased enthusiasm. The state's favourable business climate continues to attract both domestic and international investors.
The focus remains on maintaining momentum in industrial growth while ensuring transparency and support for entrepreneurs. With strategic initiatives and policies in place, Kerala aims to sustain its position as a leading destination for business investments in India.
