Movie releases are always grand celebrations for fans and stars alike, and the much-anticipated arrival of L2: Empuraan has taken this excitement to another level. In a first-of-its-kind move, Good Shepherd College in Bengaluru has declared a holiday on March 27 to mark the release of the Mohanlal-starrer, allowing students and faculty to enjoy the cinematic spectacle without any distractions.

Titled "Lights, Camera, Holiday!", the announcement underscores the college's managing director, Tojo John, unparalleled admiration for the legendary actor.
"When passion and fandom unite, history is made! Our beloved MD, a devoted fan of Lalettan, has orchestrated a special screening of Empuraan to honor the brilliance of Mohanlal and the visionary direction of Prithviraj Sukumaran. This is more than just a film-it's a phenomenon," read the official statement from the college.
Taking this celebration a step further, the college has also arranged an exclusive screening for its students. A special early morning show at 7 a.m. has been booked at Movietime Cinemas, YGR Mall, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, where students will be given free tickets to witness the larger-than-life cinematic experience on the big screen.
Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, L2: Empuraan is the highly anticipated prequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer, which shattered box office records upon release and established itself as one of the biggest Malayalam films of all time. The action-packed thriller is produced by Aashirvad Cinemas, Sree Gokulam Movies, and Lyca Productions and has been shot in several stunning international locations, including Turkiye, France, London, Yemen, Senegal, Iraq, and China.
The film brings back a stellar cast, with Mohanlal reprising his enigmatic role as Khureshi-Ab'raam. Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, and Indrajith Sukumaran will also return to their respective roles from Lucifer, adding to the excitement surrounding the sequel.
The recently released trailer hints at a gripping socio-political drama, with Mohanlal's character at the centre of a high-stakes power struggle. Packed with action, intrigue, and intense performances, Empuraan promises an immersive cinematic experience that fans have been eagerly awaiting.
Even before its theatrical release, the film has already proven to be a box office sensation. Advance ticket sales in India have surpassed Rs 12.85 crore, while in North America, the film's premiere show bookings have crossed the Rs 3 crore mark, making it the highest-grossing Malayalam film in the region's history.
Industry analysts have already labelled it a massive hit, predicting that it will rewrite box office records both in India and abroad.
According to the filmmakers, Lucifer and Empuraan are part of a grand trilogy, with the third and final instalment still under wraps. As the excitement continues to build, fans eagerly await March 27, when they can finally witness the next chapter in this epic cinematic saga.
