Benchmark indices ended the day flat despite strong gains in heavyweight Infosys and HDFC Bank. The Sensex ended the day higher by 59 points, while the Nifty lost 5 points in trade.

Most of Asia ended the day lower, while Dow Futures too were pointing to lower openings.
Among the stocks that lost ground in trade were Hindalco, JSW Steel, Bharti Infratel and ITC. Shares in Infosys gained significant ground ahead of the results to be declared later today. However, another IT major Wipro was weak in trade and lost more than 3 per cent.
Shares in Sun TV gained for the eighth successive trading day. The stock is now up almost 39 per cent in these 8 sessions. Another media company Shemaroo Entertainment was locked at the upper end of the circuit filter for the 7th trading session in a row.
Shriram Transport Finance fell a huge 15 per cent in trade as S&P Global Ratings lowered its rating on the stock to BB from BB+ and the outlook was maintained at negative.
ICICI Bank share price fell 4 per cent after global rating agency S&P revised the private lender's outlook to negative from stable on the potential impact of the coronavirus outbreak.
