Maruti Sold 181,343 Vehicles In September 2023; Half-Yearly Sales Surpass 1 Million Mark First Time

Auto giant, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 181,343 units in September 2023, driven by SUV car sales. Both domestic sales and exports picked up momentum during the month. Not just that Maruti touched a new milestone by surpassing the half-yearly sales mark of 1 million vehicles for the first time.

Of the total sales, in September 2023, Maruti's domestic sales stood at 153,106 units, sales to other OEMs were at 5,726 units and exports came in at 22,511 units.

In September 2023, Maruti's utility vehicles such as Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, S-Cross, and XL6, witnessed sales of 59,271 units as compared to 32,574 units in September of last year.

Maruti's sales declined to 78,903 units in the mini and combat segment as against 101,750 units in September 2022. Mid-size car Ciaz posted sales of 1,491 units, marginally up from 1,359 units sold in September 2022.

Further, Maruti recorded sales of 11,147 units of Eeco and 2,294 units of Super Carry in September 2023, declining from 12,697 units and 2,505 units sold in the same month a year ago.

During the first half of FY24 (April - September 2023), Maruti's domestic sales stood at 917,543 units against 852,694 units in H1 of FY23. Exports in H1FY24 stood at 132,542 units as against 132,632 units in H1FY23.

Overall, Maruti posted sales of 1,050,085 units in H1 of FY24, compared to sales of 985,326 units in H1FY23. SUV sales stood at 306,467 vehicles in H1FY24 -- accounting for 29.2% of the total sales.

Last week, on Friday, Maruti's share price ended at Rs 10,601.70 apiece, up by 0.33% on BSE. The stock did cross over Rs 10,700 mark during the day, which was near its 52-week high of Rs 10,720 apiece. Maruti shares climbed over 31% from its 52-week low of Rs 8,076.65 apiece.

The company's market value is over Rs 3.20 lakh crore.
