The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) was sent a bomb threat along with major financial institutions HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank. The Mumbai Police swiftly launched an investigation into the 11 ominous emails received, which not only threatened explosive consequences but also demanded the resignation of RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
According to the Mumbai Police, the threats were strategically aimed at various locations across Mumbai, prompting an immediate and comprehensive response from law enforcement agencies. Teams were dispatched to all 11 identified places to conduct thorough searches and ensure the safety of the public and the targeted institutions.

The threatening email detailed a shocking accusation of a massive scam involving high-profile figures. The anonymous sender claimed, "We have planted 11 different bombs in different locations of Mumbai. The RBI along with private sector banks have executed the biggest scam in India." The email implicated not only Governor Shaktikanta Das and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman but also alleged involvement from top finance officials and renowned ministers of India.
The email further demanded the immediate resignation of both Das and Sitharaman, insisting on a public disclosure of the alleged scam. The sender warned that if their demands were not met before 1:30 pm, all 11 bombs would detonate sequentially.
Despite the severity of the threats, a subsequent search of the identified locations yielded no evidence of explosives. The Mumbai Police have since registered a case and are actively pursuing leads to trace the source of the threatening email and identify the individuals behind the menacing plot.
This incident has raised concerns about the security of financial institutions in India, with authorities taking the threats seriously and ensuring the safety of the public and banking personnel. The motivation behind the threats remains unclear, and investigators are working diligently to separate fact from fiction.
RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman have not yet issued official statements regarding the threats or the allegations made in the email. The government is expected to address the situation promptly, with a focus on maintaining public trust in the country's financial institutions.
As the investigation unfolds, the Mumbai Police are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
