Mumbai Rain News: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai metropolitan area for the next three hours on Monday morning. Apart from Mumbai rains, other cities like Thane, Raigad (Navi Mumbai), Pune are also on red alert due to heavy rainfall today.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued an advisory for Mumbai residents and has urged them to stay alert due. BMC has also reshared its helpline number for people who want to seek help or any information.

"The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a Red Alert Warning for Mumbai Metropolitan Region for the next 3 hours. Intense to very Intense spells of rain & thunderstorm accompanied by lightning with gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph very likely," noted BMC in its post on X.
"Please dial 1916,Control Room of the BMC, for any help and official information, if required," BMC added in its post. Other than Mumbai, Maharashtra's Pune is also on alert because of heavy rainfall. Late on Sunday night, the city experienced intense rainfall.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Pune at 4 am on Monday, valid until 7 am. Red alerts were also announced for Solapur and Ahmednagar, while Thane and Raigad received orange alerts. Other regions like Nashik, Palghar, Jalana, and Nagpur were placed under yellow alerts.
The IMD had predicted "heavy to very heavy rainfall" for northeastern states and Maharashtra over the coming days. A yellow alert was issued until September 18 for isolated areas in Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha. Mumbai's forecast included thunderstorms with lightning, heavy rain, and gusty winds at isolated spots.
On September 14, the IMD anticipated light to moderate rain or thunderstorms in many places. Isolated heavy rainfall was likely over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra & Marathwada on September 16. Very heavy falls were expected over these regions on September 14 and 15.
Mumbai News: Transportation Issue Amid IMD Red Alert For Rains
Amid heavy rainfall forecast in Mumbai, residents are also struggling to travel in local trains. A monorail came to a halt in the Wadala area of Mumbai due to technical glitches, reported news agency ANI earlier today.
"The train heading to Wadala halted. The passengers were transferred to the train coming from Chembur. Fire Brigade came later and started their operation. Monorail officials are saying that it was a supply issue...I urge the Govt to resolve this recurring issue," Rajesh Ananda Bhojane, Ward Councillor of Ward 175, Republican Party of India (Athawale) told ANI.
