The new GST rates took effect after the rollout of GST 2.0, which became effective as of today, i.e., September 22nd. Major car and two-wheeler manufacturers have already announced big price reductions across popular models. Brands like Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Tata Motors, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota, Renault, Nissan, and Suzuki have passed on GST savings directly to customers, making several best-selling cars and bikes significantly cheaper.
This tax reform has reduced the GST on most small cars, hatchbacks, and sedans from 28% to 18%, while larger SUVs now attract a 40% GST, down from 50% previously. For two-wheelers up to 350 cc, GST has been cut from 28% to 18%, reducing prices by nearly 8-9%.
