There will be no stock market holiday on Budget day this year. The Indian stock market is going to function even on a Sunday, February 1, 2026, as both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) have announced a special trading session on Union Budget day.

As earlier announced, the Union Budget 2026-27 is scheduled to be presented on February 1, which falls on a Sunday so BSE and NSE trading will take place on that day despite it being a weekend and also a government holiday in some states.

Stock market trading Timings on Budget Day

Why Is the Stock Market Open on Sunday for Budget 2026?
Since the Union Budget 2026 presentation date falls on a Sunday, the exchanges have decided to keep the stock market open on Budget day to allow real-time reaction to budget announcements.
This is not the first time such a move has been taken. A similar Sunday trading session for the Union Budget was last seen in 2017, so after nine a sunday Budget will be seen.
Union Budget 2026
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2026-27 on February 1. The Budget Session of Parliament will begin on January 28, with President Droupadi Murmu addressing members of both Houses.
The Union Budget impact on the stock market is expected to be significant, with sectors such as infrastructure, banking, railways, defence, capital goods, real estate and consumption stocks likely to remain in focus during Budget day trading.
Guru Ravidas Jayanti on February 1, But Stock Market Open
