The Noida Expressway, a crucial link between Noida, Greater Noida, Delhi, and the Yamuna Expressway, sees millions of vehicles daily. Recent updates have emerged concerning all vehicle types, including buses and overloaded vehicles. These changes are significant for those who frequently travel this route.
New regulations have been introduced to manage traffic better on the expressway. If a vehicle breaks down or is stopped without reason, it can cause traffic disruptions. The traffic police will now enforce strict penalties in such cases to maintain smooth traffic flow.
Under the new rules, fines will be imposed under Section 201 of the Motor Vehicles Act for causing obstructions. These fines range from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 20,000. The aim is to make commercial vehicle owners more responsible for their vehicles to prevent traffic jams.
The speed limits on the expressways have also been revised. On the Yamuna Expressway, light vehicles must now adhere to a speed limit of 75 km/h, reduced from 100 km/h. Heavy vehicles are restricted to 60 km/h, down from 80 km/h.
Similarly, on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, light vehicles must not exceed 75 km/h instead of the previous 100 km/h limit. Heavy vehicles are now limited to 50 km/h from an earlier limit of 60 km/h.
The decision to implement these changes stems from frequent vehicle breakdowns on the expressway, leading to traffic congestion and inconvenience for commuters. To address this issue, the Noida Traffic Police has designated the expressway as a 'breakdown challan' area.
This designation aims to reduce the number of stranded vehicles and alleviate traffic jams. The new rules are expected to enhance road safety and ensure smoother travel for all users of the expressway.
