Punjab's Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, announced that paddy sowing in the state will commence on June 1 this year. This decision aims to prevent issues related to high moisture content in the crop during October sales. The government plans to implement zone-wise cultivation, with necessary preparations underway.

Mann revealed that Punjab will be divided into four zones for paddy transplantation. Previously, this process started after June 10. The government is committed to preventing the sale of fake seeds, ensuring quality for farmers.
Education Initiatives and Government Jobs
During a Parents-Teacher Meeting at the School of Eminence, Mann highlighted several initiatives for public welfare. He mentioned the establishment of 881 Aam Aadmi clinics, providing free treatment to over three crore patients. Additionally, more than 52,000 youths have secured government jobs based solely on merit.
Manish Sisodia, a senior AAP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, praised Punjab's educational reforms. He noted that students from urban areas are now eager to enroll in village government schools due to improved education standards.
Mentorship and Educational Reforms
Mann addressed the gathering about mentorship programs involving senior IAS and IPS officers. These officers will guide government school students and prepare them for competitive exams while also training teachers to enhance their skills.
The Chief Minister emphasized that these officers will serve as mentors voluntarily, alongside their regular duties. Their role includes gathering resources and expertise for school development.
Budget Allocation for Education
The state budget has allocated 11% of total expenditure, amounting to Rs 18,047 crore, towards education. This significant investment underscores the government's focus on enhancing the education sector's growth and development.
Sisodia criticized previous governments for neglecting public schools in favor of private institutions owned by influential individuals. He stressed the importance of strengthening public schools to ensure quality education across Punjab.
The AAP leader remarked on the visible changes in Punjab's education system over the past three years compared to the previous 75 years. He believes that a vibrant Punjab can only be achieved through educational advancements.
