Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserts that regional investment summits are crucial for balanced state development. He highlights Madhya Pradesh's initiatives and the historical success of structured industrial summits in Gujarat.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasised the significance of regional investment summits for achieving balanced state development. Speaking at the Abhyudaya Madhya Pradesh Growth Summit in Gwalior, Shah highlighted that a state's progress relies on balanced growth, as every region holds untapped potential. He noted that structured industrial investment conclaves began in Gujarat under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership when he was the state's chief minister.

Shah mentioned that Modi initiated the Vibrant Gujarat industrial summit, which successfully attracted investments to the state. Similarly, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has started regional investment summits to ensure balanced development within his state. Shah believes these summits will be crucial for states' balanced growth in the future. Investment activities have now commenced across all regions of Madhya Pradesh, benefiting other states as well.
Investment and Development
During the event, Shah inaugurated and laid foundations for industrial projects worth Rs 2 lakh crore. He acknowledged that while this investment might seem modest initially, it represents a significant achievement for the region. For local residents, this investment is vital. Shah reiterated that without balanced development, a state cannot progress due to hidden opportunities in every area.
Cotton farming has been a longstanding agricultural activity in Malwa and Chambal regions. However, due to inadequate pricing, its cultivation declined significantly. Through the PM MITRA Park initiative, cotton has regained profitability. Shah highlighted Madhya Pradesh's strategic geographical location, allowing supplies to reach half of India with minimal transportation costs. This advantage can be fully realised only when industries are evenly distributed across the state.
Geographical Advantages
Shah stressed the importance of establishing industries in districts bordering southern states, areas near Delhi like Gwalior, and regions adjacent to western areas such as Dhar and Jhabua. This strategic placement will maximise the benefits of Madhya Pradesh's geographical location. The regional investment summits have laid a foundation for comprehensive development within the state.
Shah concluded by reiterating that these initiatives are essential for unlocking each region's potential and ensuring overall progress. By fostering industrial growth across diverse areas, Madhya Pradesh can leverage its location and resources effectively for sustained development.
