In the first ten months of 2025, Russian spirits exports to India have nearly quadrupled, reaching approximately USD 900,000. Vodka remains the primary export driver, showcasing India's growing market for alcoholic beverages.
Russian spirits exports to India have surged nearly fourfold in the first ten months of 2025 compared to the same period last year. This growth highlights India's potential as a promising market for Russian exporters. According to a report by "Vedomosti," citing data from the Federal Centre for Agricultural Export Development of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture Agroexport, India is becoming an appealing destination for Russian vodka and other hard alcoholic beverages.

In the initial ten months of 2025, Russian producers exported around 520 tonnes of spirits, including vodka, gin, whiskey, and liqueurs, to India. These shipments were valued at USD 900,000, marking a threefold increase in volume and a fourfold rise in value compared to the previous year. Vodka played a significant role in this export surge, with shipments worth approximately USD 760,000 during this period.
India's Growing Market for Russian Spirits
Despite India ranking only 14th among the largest importers of Russian spirits from January to October, its growth rate was the highest. India's share stood at 1.3 per cent in terms of volume and between 1.4-1.5 per cent in revenue. This rapid growth underscores India's emerging importance as a market for Russian alcoholic beverages.
Other key importers of Russian spirits include Kazakhstan, Georgia, China, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Belarus. These countries have traditionally been significant markets for Russian alcoholic products. However, India's recent growth indicates a shift in market dynamics and potential opportunities for Russian exporters.
The data from Agroexport highlights that vodka was the primary contributor to the increase in exports to India. The substantial rise in both volume and value suggests a growing demand for Russian spirits in the Indian market. This trend could lead to further expansion opportunities for Russian producers looking to tap into new markets.
The significant increase in exports reflects India's evolving consumer preferences and its potential as a lucrative market for international spirits. As Indian consumers continue to explore diverse alcoholic beverages, Russian exporters may find new avenues for growth and collaboration within this expanding market.
