Himadri Speciality Chemicals Ltd. has received approval from its board to step into Lithium-ion Battery (LiB) components manufacturing. The company plans to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with an annual production capacity of 2,00,000 metric tonnes, either directly or through its subsidiaries.
The project comes with an estimated cost of Rs 4,800 crore, to be disbursed in phases over the course of five to six years. The funding for this venture will primarily come from internal accruals and debt.

Himadri envisions this facility as a game-changer in the indigenization of Lithium-ion Battery raw materials, catering to the growing demand from both global and Indian electric vehicle markets. The move aligns with broader environmental goals, aiming to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and contribute to the preservation of natural resources.
The company's stance in entering the Lithium-ion Battery market is not only a strategic business move but also a response to the increasing emphasis on sustainable energy solutions globally. As the electric vehicle industry continues to gain momentum, the demand for efficient and environmentally friendly battery solutions has seen a surge.
On Tuesday, shares of Himadri Speciality Chemicals soared by 8%, reaching a record high of Rs 293 per share. The stock has experienced an ascent throughout the year, witnessing a 188% surge in 2023 alone. This marks the second consecutive year of doubling for the stock.
Investors and industry analysts are optimistic about the company's foray into Lithium-ion Battery components manufacturing, citing the growth potential in the electric vehicle sector. The positive market response underscores the confidence in Himadri's strategic decision-making and its ability to capitalize on emerging opportunities in the evolving landscape.
This move positions Himadri Speciality Chemicals as a key player in the Lithium-ion Battery market and also contributes to the broader mission of fostering cleaner and greener energy solutions for the future.
