Tata-OpenAI Collab: Free ChatGPT Access for Employees, Codex Rollout, To AI Data Centres | Key Highlights

Tata-OpenAI Deal: Tata Group, along with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has partnered with OpenAI to roll out a wide range of AI-driven initiatives across sectors. The collaboration will span AI data centre projects and provide thousands of Tata Group employees with access to Enterprise ChatGPT. Both companies are aiming to accelerate innovation and expand their market presence through advanced artificial intelligence solutions.

Tata-OpenAI Partnership

The collaboration between the tech giant and AI market player will enable OpenAI to access TCS's Hypervault. Additionally, TCS will enable its customers to deploy, integrate, and scale OpenAI's advanced AI platforms worldwide for business growth.

"This partnership spans multiple high-impact areas, including powering AI-led innovation across Tata Group companies, joint efforts to drive AI transformation across industries globally, and setting up AI infrastructure," stated TCS in a press release.

Enterprise ChatGPT For Tata Group Employees

Several thousand Tata Group employees would be able to access Enterprise ChatGPT. The services would help the Mumbai-headquartered IT giant to "accelerate innovation and productivity". TCS will also "leverage OpenAI's Codex to boost software engineering outcomes," the company stated in its press release.

Develop AI Infrastructure

TCS's Hypervault unit and OpenAI have agreed to enter into a multi-year partnership to build AI infrastructure in India. As per the partnership, TCS will develop an AI infrastructure with 100 MW capacity with an option to scale to 1 GW. The infrastructure would be capable to power next-gen AI workloads.

OpenAI will also collaborate with TCS for its Agentic AI solutions, work on joint go-to-market (GTM) initiatives, etc.

"Through OpenAI for India and our partnership with Tata Group, we're working together to build the infrastructure, skills, and local partnerships needed to build AI with India, for India, and in India, so that more people across the country can access and benefit from it," stated Sam Altman, CEO, OpenAI.

"This is a unique opportunity for OpenAI and TCS to transform industries. Together we will skill India's youth and empower them to succeed in the AI era," stated N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons.

TCS shares were trading 1.07% higher at Rs 2723.35 per share on BSE with a market capitalisation of Rs 9,85,331.86 crore at 11 am on Thursday.The stock had touched an intraday high of Rs 2748 per share and an intraday low of Rs 2706 per share.
