As of May 8, 2025, the stock gained over 3% intraday, following a 5% surge on Wednesday.

India-UK Trade Deal and Tata Motors Demerger Fuel Stock Rally
Tata Motors shares have been gaining recently, particularly because two major developments are driving the momentum. First, as per a report by The New York Times, the US may soon announce a big trade deal with the UK. While details are still emerging, this could benefit UK-based companies like Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), which is owned by Tata Motors.
Second, India and the UK have officially signed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). According to a CNBC report, broking firm Citi believes that this deal could reduce car import taxes by as much as 45%. That means JLR vehicles could become much cheaper in India, making them more attractive to luxury car buyers.
Tata Motors Demerger Update
The company's demerger strategy will result in two separately listed entities, which will be Tata Motors CV business focusing on commercial vehicles and related investments. Tata Motors PV + EV + JLR business brings together all passenger vehicle-related innovations, including electric and autonomous driving technologies. Once implemented, shareholders will receive one share of the newly listed CV entity for every Tata Motors share held.
