Tata Power announced that its subsidiary, TP Solar, has received a Rs 455 crore contract from Maharashtra State Power Generation Company. This agreement involves supplying 300 MWp solar modules throughout Maharashtra within this year. The modules are part of the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 project.

The contract is part of a larger 750 MWp tender by MSPGCL, secured through a competitive e-Reverse Auction process. TP Solar, a fully owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd., will provide ALMM-certified solar modules for the project.
TP Solar's Manufacturing Capabilities
TP Solar operates India's largest solar cell and module manufacturing facility located in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. This plant boasts a capacity of 4.3 GW each for cells and modules. It is designed with open spaces to allow for future expansion.
Tata Power has invested around Rs 4,300 crore through its subsidiary TPREL to establish this facility. This investment is a significant move towards indigenisation in the solar value chain and aims at achieving self-sufficiency in solar cell and module production.
Advanced Technology at TP Solar
The Tirunelveli plant is equipped with advanced technologies such as TOPCon and Mono PERC. These technologies enable the production of ALMM-certified modules and DCR modules using India-made cells.
This development highlights Tata Power's commitment to enhancing local manufacturing capabilities in the renewable energy sector. The company's efforts align with broader goals of increasing self-reliance in solar technology within India.
The collaboration between TP Solar and MSPGCL underscores the growing emphasis on renewable energy solutions in India. By supplying these solar modules, Tata Power contributes to sustainable energy initiatives across Maharashtra.
