Delhi-NCR emerged as the region with the highest number of Uber trips overall, while Mumbai took the top spot for the most late-night trips booked. Kolkata, on the other hand, indulged in weekend travel more than any other city.
Uber Trips Cover Record Distance
Uber trips in India covered a staggering 6.8 billion kilometers in 2023, a distance that could traverse the entire 6.37-million-kilometer road network in the country more than a thousand times over. This remarkable feat highlights the growing popularity of Uber as a convenient and reliable mode of transportation.
Cities with the Most Uber Trips
The cities with the highest number of Uber trips in 2023 were Delhi-NCR, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, and Kolkata. While Delhi-NCR maintained its dominance in terms of overall trips, Mumbai surpassed the national capital in late-night bookings, and Kolkata emerged as the weekend travel hotspot.
Delhi NCR: Work Commute Hub
Residents of Delhi NCR relied on Uber the most for their work commute, booking the highest number of office-hour trips among all cities. This trend reflects the city's fast-paced lifestyle and the need for efficient transportation options.
Peak Booking Times
The report reveals that the most Uber trips were booked between 6 pm and 7 pm, indicating the peak travel hours for commuters. Additionally, Saturday emerged as the most popular day of the week for booking an Uber, suggesting a preference for leisure travel during weekends.
December: The Busiest Travel Month
The month of December witnessed the highest number of Uber rides booked in a single month. Durga Puja and the Christmas weekend stood out as the most popular days in terms of the number of trips booked, showcasing the surge in travel during festive periods.

Uber India noted that 2023 witnessed a significant shift in travel patterns, with several new rider trends emerging. These trends are reshaping the way people move around their cities, highlighting the dynamic nature of urban transportation.
