Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UPRERA) announced on Thursday that each new real estate project will receive a unique QR code upon registration. Promoters must include this code in their brochures and advertisements. This initiative aims to enhance transparency in the real estate sector.

Home buyers often lack access to verify project details and amenities, relying solely on promoters' advertisements. UPRERA noted that the QR code will allow potential investors to scan it with their mobile phones and instantly access comprehensive project information from the UP RERA portal.
Ensuring Transparency for Home Buyers
UPRERA has mandated that promoters include project QR codes in all documents shared with allottees, such as booking forms, allotment letters, and builder-buyer agreements (BBAs). This measure ensures that buyers can easily verify the project's details.
The QR code will provide access to various project-related information, including land documents, approved layouts and maps, project specifications, start and completion dates, bank accounts, promoters, co-promoters, registered agents, quarterly progress reports (QPR), occupancy certificates or completion certificates, and other necessary NOCs.
Verification Through Advertisements
UPRERA observed that while promoters extensively advertise their projects, home buyers lack an accessible medium to verify the advertised features and amenities. The new QR code system will make these advertisements a reliable source for verifying project information.
UP RERA chairman Sanjay Bhoosreddy stated, "Promotion and advertisement of the project is the strongest instrument to promote the sale of real estate properties but RERA has to ensure that no innocent buyer is deceived through the advertisements."
This initiative by UPRERA aims to protect home buyers from misleading advertisements by providing them with a straightforward method to verify project details. By scanning the QR code, buyers can confirm the accuracy of the information provided by promoters.
The introduction of QR codes in real estate projects is expected to significantly improve transparency and trust between home buyers and developers. This step ensures that buyers have easy access to all necessary information before making an investment decision.
Overall, UPRERA's move to implement unique QR codes for new projects is a significant step towards promoting transparency and protecting home buyers in Uttar Pradesh's real estate sector.
