NFOs or new fund offers are newly launched mutual fund schemes that show similarity to IPOs or Initial Public Offers by companies in the sense that they are open for subscription for a predefined period. Also, like there is a price band in the case of an IPO issue, here the mutual fund units can be purchased at an offer price or NAV which is mostly set at Rs. 10. Nevertheless, it is just a selling gimmick that NFOs carry a low cost with NAV of barely Rs. 10.
So, here are the 2 NFOs that you can consider for your mutual fund portfolio:
1. DSP Global Innovation Fund of Fund (FoF) - Regular Plan - Growth:
This is an open ended International Fund of Funds from the house of DSP Mutual fund. The NFO start date for the scheme is January 24 while the NFO shall end on February 7. The fund's performance shall be evaluated against the Benchmark MSCI All Country World Index - Net Total Return.
The scheme shall seek to offer capital appreciation by investing in global mutual funds and ETFs with capital deployed in companies with innovation as the main theme. Other investments of the scheme shall be into money market instruments and/or money market/liquid schemes of DSP Mutual Fund.
So, if as an aggressive investor category, you wish to bet on advanced innovation themes such as AI, Machine Learning etc. or want to have a pie of international brands such as Paypal, Zoom in your financial portfolio, you can consider SIP or lump sum investment into the scheme for just Rs. 500.
Also the DSP Global Innovation Fund of Fund - Regular Plan - IDCW scheme is available as a NFO. IDCW stands for Income Distribution cum Capital Withdrawal.
2. Invesco India Flexi Cap Fund - Regular Plan - Growth:
This is an open ended dynamic equity scheme investing across large cap, mid cap, small cap stocks from the stable of Invesco Mutual Fund. As per the fund's document, the scheme is suitable for investors looking for capital appreciation over the long term through investments in a dynamic mix of equity and equity related instruments across largecap, midcap and small cap stocks. In its portfolio, the fund would keep high growth, high quality companies together with turnaround entities.
For SIP investments, frequency of payment shall decide the minimum amount. Say if the SIP bears 12 installments then SIP can be for Rs. 500 else if there are 6 installments then minimum amount payable for SIP is Rs. 1000 else if it is quarterly then Rs. 1500.
| Scheme | Type | NFO period | Minimum investment |
|---|---|---|---|
| DSP Global Innovation Fund of Fund (FoF) | Open ended | January 24-February 7, 2022 | Rs. 500 for both lump sum and SIP |
| Invesco India Flexi Cap Fund | Open ended | January 24-February 7, 2022 | Rs. 1000 for lump sum and SIP depending on the frequency |
Disclaimer:
The above mentioned NFOs are not a call for investment in them but as is being seen NFOs are raking in huge money and both AMCs as well as investors are capitalising on the current momentum.
