On Wednesday, December 24, U.S. stock exchanges will operate on a shortened schedule. Both the Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) are set to close early at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time, according to announcements published on their official websites. This early closure reflects the traditional observance of Christmas Eve, during which trading activity is typically lighter.

Bond Market Trading Hours for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
The U.S. bond market will also follow a modified schedule on Christmas Eve. The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) has indicated that bond trading will conclude at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time on December 24. All major bond markets will then remain closed on Thursday, December 25, in recognition of Christmas Day.
All U.S. stock and bond markets will be fully closed on Christmas Day, December 25. No trading activity will take place across Wall Street, as the holiday is one of the federally recognized market closures observed each year.
When Will Stock Market Trading Resume After Christmas Holiday?
Trading will resume on Friday, December 26, with both stock and bond markets returning to their regular schedules. Major U.S. exchanges have confirmed that December 26, 2025, will be a normal trading day, allowing investors and institutions to resume full market operations following the holiday break. Normal trading is expected to continue for several days thereafter.
Stock Market on 31st December and New Year 2026 on 1st January
Looking ahead to the next holiday adjustment, the U.S. stock market's next planned full closure will occur on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in observance of New Year's Day. On New Year's Eve, Wednesday, December 31, bond markets will once again operate on a shortened schedule, closing early at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time. In contrast, the Nasdaq and NYSE will remain open for their usual full trading session on that day.
NSE, BSE Trading Shut Tomorrow on 25 December 2025
Indian stock markets will be fully closed on Thursday, December 25, in observance of Christmas Day. Trading will be suspended on the BSE and NSE for equity, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, and commodity derivatives for the entire day.
Trading in Indian markets will resume as usual on Friday, December 26, with all segments returning to their regular operating hours. There are no early closures scheduled around Christmas in India, and market activity will continue normally following the holiday.
