OpenClaw founder, Peter Steinberger's hiring has come at a time when a number of AI companies are spending crores to hire top talents to boost business amid intense competition. Here are all the details about OpenClaw's Peter Steinberger.

Who is Peter Steinberger?

Peter Steinberger is the founding force behind OpenClaw. But before the AI agent tool became popular on social media, Steinberger gained attention as the founder and CEO of PSPDFKit, a cross-platform SDK, that enables developers to integrate advanced PDF features, like viewing, annotations, editing, digital signatures, etc.

Peter Steinberger has a long and diverse portfolio in deep in vibe-coding mode. In his latest blog, Peter Steinberger, announced that he is "joining OpenAi to work on bringing agents to everyone." "OpenClaw will move to a foundation and stay open and independent," Steinberger wrote in his post.

What is OpenClaw?

OpenClaw is an AI agent tool that can be paired with Anthropic, Chinese-developed language models like DeepSek, etc. OpenClaw was earlier called as Clawdbot and Moltbot.

Its popularity shot due in part to attention on social media. Peter Steinberger's OpenClaw let consumers and businesses swarm to products that can autonomously complete tasks, make decisions and take actions on behalf of users without any human guidance.

"The last month was a whirlwind, never would I have expected that my playground project would create such waves. The internet got weird again, and it's been incredibly fun to see how my work inspired so many people around the world," read a post by Peter Steinberger.

OpenAI's Acquisition of OpenClaw

With the new hiring, OpenClaw will become a foundation that will act as an open source project that "OpenAI will continue to support," Sam Altman wrote in a social media post. While OpenClaw will go live as a foundation in OpenAI, it will stay "open source and given the freedom to flourish".

China's industry ministry is raising red flags about OpenClaw, warning that the open-source AI agent may create serious security problems if users set it up incorrectly, potentially leaving systems exposed to cyberattacks and dangerous data breaches.

The concerns emerge as OpenClaw becomes a viral hit since its November launch, gaining more than 100,000 stars on code repository GitHub and attracting 2 million visitors in a single week, according to a blog post by Steinberger.
