Wipro, one of India's leading information technology services company, has recently started a new training programme for freshers who have been waiting over 15 months for onboarding. According to the IT workers organisation Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), it has demanded that freshers who choose to accept a lower salary package of 3.5 lakhs per year instead of 6.5 lakhs per year undertake a new programme called Project Readiness program or face termination.
Wipro informed the new hires who completed the four-month velocity training that they only had a Project Engineer job profile for 3.5 LPA and that their previous offer letter at 6.5 LPA would be invalid if they accepted this offer letter.

As per the instructions provided, the applicants will be fired immediately if they do not complete the Project Readiness Program with an overall score of at least 60 per cent for entry-level positions.
The union informed that the freshers, who choose a lower package receive a new revised offer letter with the joining date of March 30, 2023 and onboarding date of March 14, 2023. The company has now mandated the new training programe for new hires starting March 30, 2023.
Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) President Harpreet Singh Saluja stated that these actions done by the IT major are "unethical, unfair, and unjust."
"Project Readiness Program (PRP) is available to all hired on and off campus known as NGA's(Next Gen Associates). The main objective of PRP is to provide NGA the required knowledge and skills they need to begin working on customer projects," Wipro said
