On Tuesday, December 26, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a thorough review of the state's food grain procurement and distribution systems. He emphasized the government's commitment to continuing paddy procurement until every farmer has successfully sold their produce. The official statement revealed that during the current session, over Rs 5,253 crore has been disbursed to 4,21,557 farmers across the state, with the purchase of 28.17 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. Currently, there are 5,204 operational purchasing centers in Uttar Pradesh, facilitating the daily procurement of more than 1 lakh metric tonnes of paddy.

Ensuring Prompt Payment and Biometric Verification
Chief Minister Adityanath highlighted the importance of supporting farmers and ensuring their well-being. He directed officials to keep the purchasing centers operational until every farmer has sold their paddy. Additionally, he emphasized the need for prompt payment to farmers, ensuring that they receive their dues within 48 hours of the purchase. Furthermore, Adityanath stressed the significance of biometric verification through e-POS machines during ration distribution. He instructed officials to raise awareness among beneficiaries regarding this process and take strict action against any irregularities.
Progress in Annapurna Bhawans Model Fair Price Shops
The Chief Minister also provided an update on the construction of Annapurna Bhawans Model Fair Price Shops. The state government plans to construct a total of 5,654 such shops, with 75 designated for each district. Construction work has already commenced on 3,472 model fair price shops, and 527 of them have been successfully completed. Adityanath urged officials to expedite the remaining construction work and ensure its timely completion.
