As another way to mitigate leakage in GST collection, the government has decided to incentivize those who pay GST on purchase of goods and services. So, simply if you ask your supplier of goods and services for the bill and pay GST on it then this bill would qualify as a lottery ticket and can earn you as high as Rs. 1 crore as prize money.

As per a report in the leading business daily, the government is considering giving cash rewards in the range of Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 1 crore to consumers who take bills and pay GST on the purchases made. This reward via a lottery system is proposed to increase compliance by incentivizing consumers who pay GST.
"We have come with the new lottery system. Every bill under GST is supposed to be a prize-winning lottery ticket," the business daily quoted Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs member John Joseph as saying at an Assocham event on Tuesday.
"It will go for a draw and the prize is so high that people will say that by not saving 28%, I have a chance of winning Rs 1 crore or Rs 10 lakh," Joseph added.
How can you win Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 1 crore in this lottery?
As per plans all of the purchase bills will be uploaded on to a portal. Thereafter a draw will be carried out and winners will be informed accordingly. The source of the prize money shall be the government's consumer welfare fund that includes anti-profiteering proceeds.
